Description
Manufacturing Corporation is a heavy machinery manufacturer looking for a Machine Shop Assistant interested in working with large, machined parts (40,000 lbs. +). fabricates, machines, paints, and assembles products for the commercial marine, defense, and mining industries.
Requirements
This position should have 1-2 years’ experience in a Machine Shop environment. Persons in this roll should be familiar with deburring parts, chasing threaded holes, hand working machine surfaces, assisting machinist with setups and using machine shop tooling/equipment.
Duties include but are not limited to
• Help Machinists set up very large work pieces
• Assist Machinists with tooling during CNC machining of large parts
• Conduct tooling Inventory
• Rigging large parts for to move throughout the shop with crane
• Honing bore diameters to size
• Reaming holes
• Grinding & deburring parts
• Assemble and Disassemble machined components
• Organize tooling to be available for machinists
• Emptying chip hoppers
Ideal candidates would have the following qualifications:
• Forklift certification
• Knowledge of operating a drill press and or magnetic drill
• Knowledge of operating a manual lathe
• Ability to read blueprints
• Be familiar with tapping holes by hand and chasing threads
• Be familiar with the use of an indicator – use of ID/OD Mics
